End of Season Events
Lakewood has the honor of HOSTING the end of season Championships at our pool! This means that all 8 teams in the league will descend upon our Aquatic Center Pavilion for 2 days during the last weekend of the season.
At the end of each season, all 8 teams in the league compete in a Championship swim Every swimmer can participate, as there is no “qualifying” necessary from the regular season. Each swimmer that places in each race earns points for his/her team.
Note: The only qualification for Lakewood swimmers is that their family volunteer shifts must have been fulfilled.
Championships are always the last weekend of the season, immediately following the last Wednesday Meet.
- Friday night: A full meet consisting of swimmers ages 11-18.
- Saturday Night: A full meet consisting of all swimmers up to age 10. The Cove Pool will be closed on Saturday during the day.
2020 Dates Cancelled
At the end of the meet on Saturday, all the points from all the races on Friday and Saturday are calculated to determine the Overall Team winner. At the end of the meet they announce the Overall team winners as well and those swimmers from all 8 teams who were the highest point winners in each age group, both boys and girls.
Pool Deck will be Off Limits:
No parents (except those currently volunteering) are allowed around the pool for the Championships, so families and teams set up “camps” outside the pool gates and in the green spaces around the Pavilion area.
End of Season Party!
The team party is always held the Sunday after the Championship meet....The next day after 2 nights of Championships! It is held at the Cove Pavilion, and both the Lasers and the Cruisers participate. Both teams hold a team meeting, and pass out awards, medals, swimmer achievements, and volunteer appreciation! And then both teams come together at the main pool and families enjoy food, fellowship, and swim!
